VISION:
"Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it"
[Matthew 10:39].

STEPPING OUT:
"They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved"
[Acts 2:46-47].

SHARING OUR GIFTS:
"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;  if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully"

[Romans 12:4-8 (NIV)
].

WORKING TOGETHER:
"Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.  If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body...

The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"  On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor...But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.  If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it"
[1 Cor 12:14-27].

DETERMINING INTEREST

We wanted to try to find out if there was enough interest in planting a new "campus" in the Birmingham area. So, we planned a few "get-togethers."

There seemed to be a 'bit' of interest!

14 AUGUST 05

FIRST MEETING

We had an OPEN MEETING to present the 'vision' of this new outreach---a 'forum' to determine if God might be calling people to be a part of planting this new church.

28 OCTOBER 05

BUILDING COMMUNITY

We started to create 'community' by renting a barn in Northville. We all came for some square dancing, to try our 'hand' at a 7-acre corn maze, stroll through a 12-acre pumpkin patch, and go on a hayride. We finished off the night with some singing and praying around a 'bonfire'.

11 DECEMBER 05

'CAROLING' GET-TOGETHER

Steve Andrews came to our "caroling event" to give all of us some encouragement and to 'bless' the continued effort. We then went to Shain Park across from the Community House to 'plant' a stake into the ground, symbolizing our committment to the area and the people in it.
