As they begin to take in data they recognized the connection between a traffic that was in the middle and the flow of traffic. When the traffic light was red in one direction it was green or yellow in the other. Green or yellow meant you could go, red that you had to stop. So they had taken in data from thousands of cars using sophisticated computers and were kind of patting themselves on the back. They had cracked the code. They now knew the 'law' of the intersection. Traffic was controlled by a traffic light.
