Then isn't faith
just 'automatic'?
While intellectual understanding and investigation is a necessary
starting point, there's something else that's an essential ingredient
in true faith in the Biblical sense of the word. It is an act of
the will---choice, or free will.
In the Middle Ages they used three words to indicate
the full meaning of the word "believe" in the Bible---"notitia,"
"assencia," and "fiducia."
