In addition to this, a Roman guard was stationed at the tomb, and there was a one to two ton boulder rolled in front of the grave. The seal of Rome was then placed on top of the boulder. This was a psychological barrier, in effect saying, "If you touch this...we're going to get you." So, this group of scared, cowering and demoralized individuals stealing the body, overcoming heavily armed guards, moving the stone, defying Rome, inviting torture and death, is hard to swallow when you look at all the pieces. In fact, if the body was stolen, we can be sure that it wasn't the disciples who did it. |
