Why did things get
so messed up?
Adam and Eve had the run of the Garden. God told them they could
enjoy it to their hearts content, except for the fact that they
weren't to eat the fruit of one tree. God warned them of
dire consequences if they disobeyed. Well, they rebelled against
God's one command and we are told that the world changed drastically
at that point from a world without pain, to the world filled with
suffering that we now know. Some wonder why God gave them such a
choice to make when he knew all along how things would be ruined.
Consider this: would be ruined, or could be ruined?
There's a significant difference.
