What does God accept
as 'payment' today?
Faith in Christ is why we are forgiven, not by performance
or ritual. Here's an analogy that might help. Suppose you want to
borrow a million dollars to buy a piece of property and that a bank
agrees to lend you the money at 10% interest. Now, even though you
were sure you would have the property resold quickly, let's suppose
a year passes, and still no sale. You now owe the bank $100,000
in interest. Now, suppose you managed to scrape up the money and
you pay the $100,000 just before the end of that first year. Things
are now pretty good between you and the bank. Now suppose this goes
on for 10 years in a row. You are unable to sell the land, but pay
the interest each time it's due.
