If there are conditions to the offer of eternal
life, then it can't be a gift. It's important to realize that nearly
200 times in the New Testament, the only condition stated for salvation,
or for eternal life, is faith or belief. There is nothing added
about any kind of 'maintenance requirement'. In one of the New Testament
letters, it says that we have life, or eternal life, based solely
on whether or not we have the Son, who is Jesus Christ, of course.
