According to the Bible, the penalty or the price of sin is spiritual death and separation from God. No amount of good deeds can possibly atone for the wrong we've done in our lives and buy Heaven for us. As one songwriter put it, "I owed a debt I couldn't pay. Jesus paid a debt He didn't owe." In other words, He stepped up to the cross and paid the price of our forgiveness with His own life. Like the Lear jet, if you have to pay for it yourself, pay for your forgiveness as justice demands, you'll never attain it. Jesus paid the ultimate price and offered you a gift---impossible or free---those are your only options. |
