Most of can say that we were never afraid of being punished unfairly, but were afraid of getting what we deserved---and that healthy fear keep us out of a lot of trouble. God, our Father, cares for us in the same way. There are certain things we simply don't do because we have a fear of His loving discipline. God always loves us and He's always ready to forgive and to restore us to fellowship if we humble ourselves. But there are still those natural consequences we have to live with, and perhaps, sometimes, direct action from God. We all would like to avoid the discipline from our Heavenly Father just like we did from our earthly father. |
