How many copies
are there?
Regarding the New Testament, in addition to some 8000 Latin manuscripts,
there are over 5,000 Greek manuscripts---which is the language of
the original New Testament---and these manuscripts contain all or
at least parts of the New Testament. The reason these numbers are
important is that with each additional manuscript, you get further
certainty and confirmation about what the original said. The number
of these manuscripts, the quality, the date of them, and the case
for the New Testament is overwhelming superior to that of any other
ancient document. Most scholars estimate that over 99% of the text
of the Bible is beyond dispute.
