Only God could be responsible for superintending
a project of that breadth, over that period of time, and keeping
it unified around a central theme. The theme that the Bible starts
with is the love of God for us human beings. It tells us in the
book of Genesis that he created us in his own image and then it
goes on to explain how his beautiful plan for us, starting with
Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden---how his beautiful plan for
us was diverted---and how and why we continue to sort of shoot ourselves
in the foot. We are then told about God's great and merciful plan
to salvage us.
