8 OCTOBER 06
CORE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
We started planning for our launch in September 2007 with a sort of 'preview' service; Craig Mayes presented a 'teaching' on his experiences with K:east, Danny Cox lead us in worship music; and Joe Wurm shared his heart for campus planting.
We also have our first "kids meeting" that was a great success!
View the video (in left side column) for more details.
3 DECEMBER 06
"GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS" EVENT
We had an event at the Birmingham Community House that brought together the gifts of many people that are committed to the planting of K:west, and showed the many visitors the joy and focus of our passion---Jesus.
The following were the things were had there and the activities we presented (hopefully I didn't miss any):
- Live nativity scene with shepherds and real animals
- Wisemen giving out Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh
- City Mission giving tree
- Information table with free "Case for Christmas" books
- Special food and beverages
- Artists doing portraitures
- Beautiful decoratons
- Craft stations: Bell necklace; Angel doll; Candy cane; Star chain; Angel 'halo'; Reindeer 'droppings' and dust; with the meaning of each presented
- A wonderful ambience of music was created by Michael King, Karen Newman and the group---leading all of us in focusing on the 'reason for the season'
- Even Santa and the Grinch were there to worship Jesus!
