Think about this for instance: if you and a colleague
have a conflict, most people's tendency is to either get upset and
say something they'll later regret, or else withdraw and not say
anything at all, sometimes for hours or even days. However, the
Bible says that neither of those responses is how God wants me to
react. In one place, the Bible says that we're not to return evil
for evil or insult for insult, but that we're supposed to return
a blessing instead. And even though it's very unnatural for most
of us to respond in that way, when we allow God to be in control
of our lives, we end up forgiving instead of harboring resentment---and
even try to do something kind for or say something constructive,
instead of insulting them.
